What keeps us awake at night

That feeling when you should go to bed, oh that early morning tomorrow. You just sit there in awe, pushing the anxieties to another day, another less deserving night.

The moon looks so big and beautiful, the world is on pause. In awe. You get a break. Everyone gets a break. Nothing is happening for a while, and you want to be awake enjoying that nothingness. How light it all is, how alive everyone feels to me. They are all dreaming, and I get to watch, even if I cannot see them anymore. Under the cold comforting blanket of the night, that thick fuzzy familiarity. The night is here, the clocks are no longer rushing. They’re tic and they’re tac and they’re at peace. At a slow steady pace, setting the rhythm, the beat of a quiet heart.

I’ll fall asleep when I’m ready. Not before. This is living too.
